Jo Garcia – Cyber Girl of 2008

I wasn’t originally going to post about this since I’m quite against females that like to strut their stuff in such a provocative way and use their “hardcore gaming” as a means to get recognition.
I did however receive an email from Jared over at Playboy regarding Jo Garcia. She’s apparently the winner of the 2008 Cyber Girl of the Year. Unlike other females that have used their sexuality to gain status from the media or the opposite sex, Jo didn’t do it in the same manner.
I’m giving her some recognition since she is first and foremost a playboy model that does seem to game a lot (according to her interview with Kotaku).
Hmmm… DS…PC games… that’s it?? i dont know if she fully deserves cyber girl of 2008 in my opinion… I mean what about the non-playboy girl that is a hardcore gamer and plays everything from PC RPG’s XBOX Wii to DS and Gameboy… not to mention the achievementitis syndrome she has and won’t stop a game till every secret is unlocked….Wouldn’t she be more deserving?
I think so but because she doesn’t look like Barbie she is cheated out of the title. I would like to know if Jo unlocked any “achievements” in her gaming. I think a title of cyber girl should go to a hardcore gamer girl and not the casual one.
But in the end gratz to Jo for winning even if its through the “back door” Barbie style LOL!!! j/k
oops I actually missed reading half of the interview.. so I am forced to say that she does seem to be a gamer as long as she didn’t memorize specifics about games or had Q-cards she seems like the real deal…..

First, I should definitely play more video games if girls like her play.
Second, yes, that was a fratboyish, manly remark, but let’s face it my name is “TrickyStudlyStud.” It should be expected
Third, I bet many of the ladies on this website, although perhaps not Jo Garcia status, are very attractive.
Which brings me back to the first comment… I should play more video games.

I agree about her memorising specific games. She’s all for an interview with us though having a game over xbox would definitely be more interesting since we’re interested in the gaming aspect.
Tricky, I’ve seen a lot of gorgeous girls from Live. Let’s not forget that for professional photo shots get touched up as well.

LOL good point Doll… and I have to say I would like for you girls to interview Jo and get to the nitty gritty! If she can pass that interview then I would think she deserves the title of Cyber girl of 2008.
And yes does Jo have an xbox live account? Most gamers that win awards happily toss out a screen name but she seemed a little hush hush about it all. (then again stalkers is a liability) LOL I would like to game against Cyber Girl 2008 see how I compare
I think it’s pretty cool that she’s a gamer at all, hardcore or not. I wiki’ed Cyber Girl of the Year, and it turns out the title has nothing to do with gaming (I thought it might, but it’s actually just a title for Playboy’s online models).

I think people seeing girls like her gaming helps break the ideas that all gamers are guys or nerds or girls who game are tomboys and not girly at all,….
maybe its just me but personality on a game means more to me than what she or anyone else looks like. I play with what I consider attractive women all the time on XBL, but I don’t play with them just because they were hot. I play with them because I honestly enjoy their personalities. They are people I can cut up with and laugh with(or occasionally at*LOL*). Its nice that she plays video games, Kuto’s to her. And as for the touch ups; LOL, yeah I have seen some amazing before and after photo’s where some nice touch ups were done both with a professional and digital.
I like to play with people based on personalities too… guy or girl.. I guess like the saying goes “its not what videogame you play its who you play with” (at least sometimes)
I think if she plays video games and is willing to say she does, she’s definately more of a gamer than a lot of girls I know who try to hide it.
As for interviews, well, there is some script writing. There always is. That’s why really important people pay other people a whole lot of money so they don’t say something stupid.
She probably won’t be giving out a screen name any time soon. I mean, I’m not in Playboy but I’ve gotten unwanted photos. I can only imagine what she would get!

LOL!! That is very true. I also agree that it is definately cool when girls don’t hide that they game its not something to be ashamed of.. but I don’t blame the ones that hide it do to bad mouth guy gamers who attempt to degrade female gamers…
I think that if you’re a girl and play video games, that’s pretty cool. Luckily, it’s (sort of) articles like this, the Frag Dolls, etc. that show that world that girls play as much as the guys do! It’s all about finding what game(s) you like. And there’s so many types of games out there it’s hard to imagine people don’t like playing video games, but I’m sure there are some!

Frag Dolls is definately a cool group… have any of you ladies been one are want to become one? I had seriously considered it, but then I don’t want videogames to become like a job or chore.. and end up not enjoying them as much… hmm who knows maybe in the future..
I wanted to join but they said something about not having the right equipment*LOL* Though seriously yeah the clan thing can be a job at times, alot of clans require alot of time and dedication.
I agree clans can be restrictive and become like a part time job.. of course the results are nice but I would like to know if clan members think it is worth it? Any clan people out there and care to comment?

Well I used to be in 24/7 back in the RB6 days and then we went on to be called Tactical Syndicate. Being in a clan is like a part time job, they expect alot out of you. And with alot of practices. Because those clans that don’t practice together normally fall apart quickly and are normally not even very good. Its like any sport if you don’t practice you aren’t going to get good. And there is a big difference in being good at the game and being good with a clan.

Smiles you ever see the TV series 2 1/2 men–well there are times I feel like charlie sheen in the movie(and not the good times *LOL*) and a certain someone(not mentioning anynames*LOL*) is the house keeper. Anyone who watches the show will understand.

LOL yeha you snuck this one in on me alright.. OK 2 1/2 men is a series with charlie sheen. Its about 2 brothers that live together. Ones X wife and son live fairly close by so the son is there when he has custody. Charlie has this housekeeper that he periodically tries to order around who basically tells him where to shove it and goes on about her merry way*LOL* One episode he is trying to sleep from a late night and she comes in turning on the lights and starts cleaning up his room. When he tries to go back to sleep she strips off his bedding so that she can do the laundry….and of course he is sleeping ahhhh natural*LOL* so hes trying to keep some dignaty while trying to escape somewhere so that he can get cloths on*LOL* its freakin hilarious
