Don’t Make Me Beg…

kingdom_hearts_ii_teaser_poster_21I haven’t been around lately, but I blame the downright barrage of games that came out lately. But, after the holidays, I noticed things…slowed down…if you will. The amount of new games have basically stopped or are limited to a few memorable titles here and there. Unlike the holidays, where you couldn’t go a week without a new hot game coming out, I take a quick look at the gaming selection at my local game store and quickly pass by.

So while we await for awesome (hopefully) titles (possibly in production) of games to be released in 2009 (please give us firm release dates), I thought, what games would I like to see made? I’m not talking Ghostbusters or CoD5: Modern Warfare 2. I’m talking about games that ended and we want to see more of. Some are/were PC and some are consoles, but I miss them and I want them back.

My list in no particular order:

Alice by American McGee. What can I say? This game is beyond awesomesauceness. I loved every weird scary freaky bit of it. It took my favorite movie ever and made it grown up in a way I could appreciate, but still kept the classic parts.

Kingdom Hearts. Going with my fantasy the

me, Kingdom Hearts is just an amazing game. Well, games as there are 2, but I’ll talk as they’re one. The bringing of all the Disney characters and the Final Fantasy characters was sheer genius. Plus, we got to do what we always wanted to to (admit it.) We got to fight classic bad guys with classic good guys in amazing worlds.

God of War. Yes, I know they made a PSP version, but killing mythic monsters with a god half an inch tall isn’t as much fun. The fact you get to travel back to when gods were real and mythical beasts had a bazillion ways of killing you kept me interested for hours.

Heavenly Sword. As of yet, there is no sequel (or prequel) in the making. But this game, and this game alone, is the reason I bought a PS3. The graphics are amazing and the story is heart wrenching. There are scenes in there that could be in movies. Movies I would watch over and over and over again.

Escape from Monkey Island. Before games were all push this button or push that button and run over here, there was Escape from Monkey Island. It’s still fun to pick up even now.

Marvel v. Capcom. Probably one of the best fighting games of all time. Nothing like beating the Hulk down with Spiderman. The controls were well balanced and it was just a lot of fun to play.

So, that’s my list. What’s yours?

kingdom hearts chain of memories was my favorite, glad it got ported to PS2 and finally released in the states, wish it was on PSP though, another kingdom hearts would be awesome, a whole nex gen awesome one.

We all know God of War III has been announced so don’t get your panties in a wad.

I want some new decent handheld games, my console is getting more than enough gameplay, I’ve already played all the great games on DS, PSP, and iPhone, I NEED MORE.

  • I love monkey island!! I love all point and click adventure games in fact. There is one on the community games section of xbox and I love it!!

:( I cant get community games in Mexico… that sucks….

The secret of monkey island its by far the most entertaining of them all, but all monkey island games are really great.

Frankly I don’t agree with the Kingdom Hearts line continuing even though there is a 3rd one in the making so calm yourself. Kingdom Hearts one was nice, I appreciate what it did and think it was a new and innovative take on two franchises.

KHII was garbage. It completely strayed from the first one and basically made it a kid friendly FF game with fanservice intentions all over the place. I almost felt like Disney was completely ignored and the only reason it was there was to give an easy level environment….aside from that, I was EXTREMELY disappointed. However, my opinion aside, I do respect your views on the game.

As for God of War, it’s all around great however it does suffer from short game syndrome much like Heavenly Sword. They both look amazing but at the price of content. Though I have not played HS, I do enjoy the God of War series and pray at least one will be ported to 360.

Personally, for me, I’d with that more titles would come to the DS. Way too many shovelware games are out there to make a quick buck and I just wish there was some more ‘meat’ to the DS like there was around it’s first year of launch. It seemed afterwards, I was only interested in Japanese releases of games instead of the ones we had here. Only recently did I just find out Pokemon Platinum was coming out, but that alone would not be enough for me to drop money on another DS.

Also a sequel to a lot of old PS1 games and maybe for them to finish this one game called “Tears” ? I think….it was being developed by the people who made Lost Odyssey and they quickly closed down shop because of the economy. But yeah…. Legend of Dragoon and Threads of Fate…. I want my sequels please. <3

Sorry for the wall of text.

Unfortunately, Kingdom Hearts 3 will probably only be released on the DS, which I don’t own. So, until they make it on a console, I’m still going to be wishing for it.

All I am going to say is…. Halo 4 (they just gotta make it!)

Kingdom Hearts II. The one game I live and BREATHE for. For the sad and sorry person to believes it is, quote, “garbage”, let me expound for a second. How much choice, as Sora, do you get in KHI? They introduced so many good game mechanics in II (such as the drive gauges and a revamp of the summonings) and ousted the useless ones that it was like playing the way KH1 should have been made.

In KH1, the gummi ships were superfluous, the combat was “run here, jump there, beat this thing up”. In KHII, the combat changes with the inclusion of the drive forms and a whole new way of gummi ship travelling. I’ve spent hours flying those routes just trying to get 100% completion.

The idea wasn’t Final Fantasy based. In ONE world (bleeding into Tron’s Space Paranoids) do the FF characters surface. One. The rest are Disney (save Hollow Bastion, Twilight Town and The World That Never Was). This was simply a fresh, inventive way of introducing tweens of today to Disney movies that we enjoyed when we were kids.

And to add a little info, there will be three versions of KH3. There’s Coded, Birth by Sleep and 358/2. KH Insider should be able to inform you as far as the details go.

I’m a fangirl, yes, but I’m also in my final year of a degree in Game Design and you were hassling my favourite JRPG. Forgive a girl who likes her stories awesome.
